Sunderbani people protest, block road

RAJOURI, Jan 17: The people from Kangri and Sunderbani area today held protest demonstration against the alleged forced conversion of young woman and her mysterious death  and blocked Jammu-Rajouri-Poonch highway for about an hour.

Reports said that relatives of the Seema Devi, villagers from Kangri and some members of VHP, Bajrang Dal and RSS today assembled at Sunderbani town and held strong protest against the Government. They alleged that police was trying to cover up the matter while fact remains that Christian Missionaries have managed conversion of about a dozen poor families at Seri Sayal and adjoining localities by exploiting and luring them for money and other facilities.
The people came out on the road at Sunderbani Chowk at around 12 noon and started    protest demonstration. They also raised barricades and suspended the movement of vehicles on this busy highway.
Later, SSP Raiouri Yougal Manhas and SDPO concerned reached the spot and they pacified the agitating people. They assured to take action in this regard. The people then lifted dharna at round 1.15 pm and allowed movement of traffic.
