Sumo driver held for smuggling liquor

RAJOURI, May 24: The police foiled an attempt of a Tata Sumo driver to smuggle liquor and seized 40 bottles of liquor from his vehicle in Rajouri town today.
Official sources said that a police team led by Sub Inspector, Suresh Sharma, during checking intercepted a Tata Sumo vehicle No. JK08A/ 9167 near Bus Stand/ Bridge at Rajouri found 40 bottles of liquor loaded in it. The drivers earlier resisted frisking but police insisted upon it and recovered the consignment being brought from Jammu.
Driver Mohammad Ayoub, son of Mohammad Sadiq, a resident of Rajdhani village in Manjakote was arrested on the spot. The liquor was also seized.
The vehicle was also seized and a case under relevant sections of law has also been registered at Rajouri Police Station.
