SRINAGAR, June 28: Minister for Public Health Engineering, Irrigation and Flood Control, Sukhnandan Kumar Choudhary today visited Yatra base camps at Nunwan and Chandanwari and took stock of the arrangements put in place by the administration for smooth conduct of Shri Amarnathji Yatra which will commence on July 2. The Minister also chaired a review meeting at Pahalgam in this regard.
The Minister went round the camps at Nunwan and Chandanwari and inspected potable water supply arrangements, ration depots, medical centres, sanitation and langer facilities. He also enquired about the security arrangements.
The Minister directed the concerned authorities for making foolproof arrangements for smooth conduct of Yatra and ensuring that the Yatris coming from different parts of the country don’t face any inconvenience.
The Minister also interacted with langerwalas, ponnywalas, labour union, etc. and discussed various issues with them.  He directed the concerned authorities to look into their problems and sort out these before commencement of Yatra.
In the review meeting, the Minister was informed that complete arrangements have been made by the administration for smooth conduct of Yatra. He was also informed that the staff has been deputed for duties to various hilly stations like Sheshnag, Pisutop, Mahagunstop, Panjtarni and holy cave. He was informed that the staff will report at their respective stations well in time.
The Minister was informed that sufficient quantity of food-grains, LPG cylinders, life saving drugs, oxygen cylinders have been kept available at all the stations of Yatra.
