Sukhnandan inaugurates causeway

JAMMU, Mar 9: Former Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Sukhnandan Choudhary, today inaugurated submersible causeway from Lahorichak to Sogani in Marh Constituency.
The causeway having a span of 13m will be constructed under the State plan at an estimated cost of Rs 44 lakhs.
While addressing the gathering, the former Minister said that three procurement centers have been opened up at Chano Chak, Soujhajana and Gajansoo Marh.
He directed the concerned officers to take adequate steps to redress public issues and ensure that the developmental works are completed in the stipulated time. He also directed Executive Engineer PHE, to ensure clean drinking water supply to the area. He stressed on ensuring proper monitoring to check pilferages in water supply so as to prevent water contamination and to allow supply of clean portable water to the general public.
The former Minister reiterated the commitment to provide clean and safe drinking water to people and said that steps are afoot to augment water supply in all the areas. While raising their grievances, the residents of village demanded five hand pumps in the area and also highlighted various other developmental needs of their area.
The MLA gave a patient hearing to the demands projected and said that all their problems would be met in a time bound manner.
It is pertinent to mention here that NRDWP caters to the emerging challenges in the rural drinking water sector relating to availability, sustainability and quality of drinking water.
He said that he is working hard to ensure equitable development of constituency for which several development plans have been chalked out. The objective of PHE department is to provide clean drinking to each and every household with special focus on border and kandi areas, he added.
He further said that the Central Government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is showing keen interest towards the overall development of Jammu and Kashmir. Responding to the demand of farmers, the MLA said that all the canals will be cleaned up in a phased manner and sufficient water will be provided to the farmers for irrigation purposes.
