UDHAMPUR, May 25: Agitated over scarcity of drinking water in the area, villagers of Sui block held a strong protest demonstration under the leadership of Savitri Devi.
They raised slogans against the PHE Department and demanded regular supply of drinking water.
According to Savitri Devi, the hand pump was also out of order since long and despite repeated reminders to the concerned authorities, as well as assurance of the Minister of State for Finance and Information Technology Pawan Gupta, nothing was done to ensure supply of drinking water in the area.
Demonstrators warned the District Administration that if necessary action is not initiated with in a period of three days, they will stage a dharna outside the office of Deputy Commissioner Udhampur.
