NEW DELHI, Jan 13: Sugar prices rose by Rs 13 to Rs 2,807 per quintal in futures trading today as speculators created fresh positions, supported by pick up in demand in the spot market.
However, ample supply in the physical market restricted the gains,
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, sugar for delivery in January rose by Rs 13, or 0.47 per cent to Rs 2,807 per quintal with an open interest of 15,960 lots.
Likewise, the sweetener for delivery in February traded higher by Rs 12, or 0.44 per cent to Rs 2747 per quintal in 18,980 lots.
Analysts attributed the the rise in sugar futures to pick up in demand in the spot market. (PTI)
