JAMMU, May 25: Jammu & Kashmir BJP spokesperson and former vice chairperson, Balbir Ram Rattan, said that the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE)’s significant health initiative ‘Sugar Boards’ is a commendable step aimed at making students aware of the amount of sugar in their diet.
In a statement issued, Balbir said, “This initiative is extremely important for children’s health. Like blackboards, ‘Sugar Boards’ being installed in schools will inform students about how much sugar intake is considered safe per day, how much sugar is present in commonly consumed snacks and beverages, and the health risks associated with excessive sugar consumption such as obesity and diabetes.”
He said, “This is a timely initiative in light of growing concerns over the increasing cases of diabetes and obesity among school-going children. Through this initiative, children will now become cautious in making food choices and more health-conscious.”
“This step will not only inspire children toward a healthy future but will also promote awareness about nutrition and health across the society,” he said adding “Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted this initiative in detail during his radio programme ‘Mann Ki Baat’.”
