Sufficient stock of all kinds of medicines: Drug Controller

JAMMU, Apr 1: Lotika Khajuria, Drug Controller, J&K, today convened a meeting of all Depot holders/C&F Agents/ Superstockists of leading multinational/micro pharma houses based at Jammu in order to facilitate and ensure the uninterrupted and hassle free supply of lifesaving/essential medicines.
The meeting was attended by Assistant Drug Controller Jammu, Mohd Iqbal Pala, president JPDA, Rakesh Gupta and other representatives of pharma trade. The purpose of the meeting was to ensure there is no shortage of essential life saving medicines to the patients/end users across UT of J&K amid Pan India lockdown due to outbreak of COVID-19.
During the meeting, trade representatives as well as Assistant Drug Controller Jammu told Lotika Khajuria that there are sufficient stocks of all kinds of essential medicines as the Depot level and in the supply chain as of now, however, the pharma dealers raised concerns that they are facing certain difficulties under present lockdown with respect to transportation of medicines both at the inter and intra state levels.
Taking immediate cognizance of the difficulties, the Drug Controller initiated certain steps for removal of such difficulties by taking up the matter with the administration to ensure smooth movement of consignments of life saving essential medicines.
In this context, Drug Controller constituted a whatsapp group of officers of the drug Control department and the depot holders of all major MNCs to maintain a coherent coordination to ensure that there is no shortage of any life saving medicines which has been shared with the stake holders.
All the Assistant Drug Controllers at the district level have been instructed to ensure the availability of all life saving medicines and report shortage of any kind of medicines on the whatsapp group number 9797134137 on the designed format so that prompt action is initiated to ensure availability of particular class of medicines.
Further, the Enforcement/ Empowered authorities across the UT have been instructed to ensure that social distancing is strictly maintained at the retail medical outlets as responsible citizens to contain the spread of Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19).
