JAMMU, June 4: Three day long historic Sudhmahadev Mela started at the historic ancient temple shrine of Lord Shiva Sudhmahadev near Chenani in Udhampur district from today.
Nearly 40, 000 people drawn from different areas of Jammu region thronged mela site. Over one lakh people from neighboring states of Punjab, HP and UT of Chandigarh are expected the take part in the mela which is the biggest mela of Dugger Pradesh.
Jammu and Kashmir Dharmarth Trust Council which manages the affairs of the Sudhmahadev, Gouri Kund and Mantalai temples in Sudhmahadev vicinity has made special elaborate arrangement for worship and darshan by devotees during mela days.
A team of high level officers and Pujaris of the Trust has especially been deployed to the temple to assist Shashi Khajuria who is personally monitoring these arrangements.
Last week arrangement were made on the spot review meeting of Dharmarth Trust staff chaired by President J&K Dharmarth Trust Council, Maj Gen (retd) Rajinder Singh Jamwal.
The statement said this year unprecedented enthusiasm is being witnessed in people and a large number of the devotee, especially from plains of Jammu district drove direct to Sudhmahadev villages, one day earlier of the Mela to take bath in the holy river Devika and seek spiritual blessings of Lord Shiva.
The devotees were in long queues to have darshan of Lord Shiva and Mata Parvati in the ancient temple of Sudh Mahadev.
The Dharmarth Trust has also made arrangements for free langer for the devotees.
