Submit PF dues of all members: Commissioner to contractors

JAMMU, May 30: To safeguard interest of social security of all eligible employees, the Regional PF Commissioner, J&K and Ladakh, Rizwan Uddin, visited IRCON International after concluding outreach programme at Mahore for Educational Institutions.
There were reasonable in outs that some of the sub-contractors were in default. The Commissioner directed IRCON International, Sangaldan and M/s Konkan Railway Corporation Ltd (KRCL), Sangaldan to check number of employees engaged by each sub- contractors of each establishment (major contractors) and to check their monthly compliance.
A live demonstration was also given to senior officers in presence of CGM of IRCON Akhil Aggarwal and Dy Chief Engineer, Konan Railway Diwakar D Joshi, how to check compliance of any establishment through “Establishment Search” feature on EPFO’s website.
He cited the example of Ramban incident and advised all the contractors and sub- contractors that no worker should enter the site without having UAN and if found strict action would be taken against them.
The PF Commissioner personally visited the M/s SRM contractor site at Sangaldan where the project is going on and found that barring one or two workers, none of 65 employees engaged for work of KRCL were found to be enrolled in PF. But they were having more works and workers are saying that they have not been allotted UAN, nor they have been made members. Principal Employers were advised to set right defaults of sub- contractor and submit the PF dues of all other members with in next two working days so that benefits can be provided especially to the workers/labourers or strict action will be taken against employer.
M/s Gammon Engineers and Construction Pvt Limited has been directed to pay the pending dues of all the workers within two days or strict action will be taken against all those employers who are/were not paying the PF regularly.
Meanwhile, a large number of owners and Heads of Private schools of zone Mahore and Chassana attended the programme along with their teaching and non teaching staff. The representatives of Chief Education Office Reasi, Zonal Education Office Mahore and employees of Forest department also attended the meeting.
Rizwan Uddin advised all the stakeholders to comply with the provision of EPF and MP Act 1952. He also laid emphasis in the Social security benefits of the Act like Insurance and Pension benefits. A detailed demo was given on how to apply online for provident fund code number and the process of getting Universal account numbers of employees and depositing their monthly contributions.
The Regional P.F Commissioner highlighted that all those eligible employees who were deprived off the pension are now covered under the Employees’ Pension Scheme after the implementation of the EPF & MP Act, 1952 in the UT of J&K and Ladakh. In case of any causality, the pension will be paid to the widow/widower, children of the deceased member. Also, in case of disability, the employee will be given pension throughout his life. It was also emphasized that an employee who is continued to be in service tenure for 10 years up to the age of superannuation (58 years) under EPFO will be eligible for pension benefits under EPS 1995.
