Students, villagers hold protest, demand repair of school building

UDHAMPUR, Oct 15: The students of Government High School, Kund (Rassain) and locals held protest and demanded repair of the school building.
The protestors raised slogans against the Education Department and District Administration, Udhampur.
They alleged that there was no repair of the school building during the last four years and students are forced to study in the unsafe building of this school, sanctioned under Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA) during 2014. They said the tender of the said contract stand allotted during March last year but no progress was witnessed.
“During rainy days children are facing a lot of difficulties. The issue was taken up with the Chief Education Office and Deputy Commissioner Udhampur several times but nothing has been done till date”, they added.
The protestors have appealed to the Lieutenant Governor of the Union territory of Jammu and Kashmir Manoj Sinha to intervene personally and resolve the issue.
Prominent among those who addressed the gathering included Mulkh Raj, Mohan Singh, Romal Singh, Sher Singh, Krishan Chand, Sant Ram, Makhan Lal Panch, Khem Raj, Munish Ram, etc.
