JAMMU, Sept 7: Today students associated with Jammu Yuva Sangathan (JYS) protested in front of Cluster University Jammu showing their anger against the University’s decision of conducting exams of final year students via offline mode.
A large number of students gathered in front of University building and burned the effigy of University administration. The angry protesters were raising slogans against Government and also in support of their demands.
While speaking to the media persons Chetan Sharma incharge students wing JYS said that decision of conducting online exams is not reasonable and does not fits good with the present circumstances. He said that due to off-line examination students will be exposed to the corona virus attack without their will, these examinations will serve no purpose other than supplementing Corona virus infection.
He said when rest of Universities of J&K are conducting online exams then why is Cluster University so eager to conduct exams offline. This kind of decision is not justified. When University can conduct internal assesments online than why is administration hesitant in conducting final exams online.
He pointed out that if they consider that students are strong enough to face covid-19 and will be recovered safely, but these students if gets infected will serve as carrier of the virus and can further infect their family members which will also include the class of people most vulnerable to covid-19. He demanded that keeping in view the genuine grievances of the students, University Administration should immediately withdraw its order of conducting offline exams and shift to online mode of examination.
Meanwhile president JYS, Virender Singh said that University should avoid risking life of the students and must address their genuine demands. He warned the University administration to immediately withdraw this unreasonable decision of conducting online exams otherwise we will have go to the court of law to seek justice.
