JAMMU, Sept 25: The students of Government High School Gangal and Government Middle School Basawa, Chowki Choura, today held a strong protest against non-availability of adequate teaching staff in their schools.
The protesting students, who were joined by their parents, locked the schools and took out a march. They were raising slogans and carrying placards demanding adequate teaching staff in their schools.
After boycotting their classes, the protesting students blocked main Jammu Poonch road for more than 3 hours. They were raising slogans against the Government and local politicians holding them equally responsible for the non-availability of teaching staff in the schools.
The students informed that there was no class work in the schools because of non-availability of the adequate teaching staff. “Whenever we meet the educational authorities, they assure us of doing the needful but nothing is done on the ground,” they said and appealed the Education Department to provide required staff in the school so that studies are not affected.
“On one side, the Government is claiming that it will provide proper education to children, especially of rural area but on the ground, the claim of the Government has proved to be hollow,” rued parents.
Later, the protest dharna was lifted on the intervention of Tehsildar & Dy CEO, who pacified the agitating students and gave written assurance to them to provide adequate teaching staff as soon as possible.
