UDHAMPUR, Oct 30: Up in arms against bad condition of the road connecting Railway Line Sambal with Panchayat Ghar Chakhar, locals of village Chakhar held a strong protest demonstration against the district administration and the concerned authorities.

The protesting villagers, including school going children, raised slogans against the authorities and also blocked the Chakhar to Udhampur road. The students belonged to Government High School Chakhar and Swami Vivekanand Memorial High School Chakhar. They said that due to no black topping and upgradation of one kilometer stretch of the road connecting Railway line Sambal to Panchyat Ghar Chakhar, they were facing acute problems.
The PWD had construction this two double layer single metal road in year 2011 and since then, no blacktopping work has been done despite repeated pleas of the locals to the concerned authorities.
The protesting villagers appealed the Deputy Commissioner Udhampur to look into the matter and address the public grievance. However, at the same time, they also warned that if the appropriate action is not taken, the villagers of Chakhar would block the National Highway.
The protest demonstration was also addressed by Ram Parkash Sharma, Rajinder Kumar, Krishan Dutt, Ravi Kumar, Sham Lal, Ashish Bhamotra, Rohit Bamotra, Makhnoo Devi, Veena Devi, Rachna, Sunita, Renu, Jyoti, Shashi Sharma, Sakshi and some students.
