SRINAGAR, Mar 16: The EDP Cell of NIT Srinagar stood 1st among all NITs and 5th among 100+ technical and management institutes across India in the National Entrepreneur-ship Challenge-NEC 2016, conducted by E-Cell, IIT Bombay.
The engineering students EDP team, with the patronage of Dr Rajat Gupta, Director, NIT-Srinagar and the Coordinator IIED Centre, brought laurels to the institute in the recently concluded EDP event. The result was a combined effort of the students over a period of 5 months under the guidance of their mentor, the head IIED Centre who was also present during the finale at IIT Bombay and provided them with pioneering ideas in context of entrepreneurial development in J&K State.
According to Prof Gupta, the event was a part of E-Summit’16, held from 28th to 31st January 2016 at Sailesh J Mehta School of Management-IITB, which witnessed eminent speakers like Harsh Mariwala, Chairman- Marico; Sachin Bansal, Co-founder Flipkart; Rahul Yadav, Co-founder Housing.com and many others.
Prof Gupta further illustrated that the challenge consisted of four arduous stages and then the final two stages at the IITB campus consisting of various entrepreneur related tasks which were started in the month of September 2016.
The stages also comprised of entrepreneurial awareness seminars and group discussions, business quiz, interviews with CEOs of Kashmiri Box, Panunkart, Rahim Motors, President Federation of Chambers of Industries Kashmir etc. Two group discussions & presentation were carried out on its finale at IIT Bombay.
The event provided a common platform for all successful and budding entrepreneurs to interact with each other. The Head IIED Centre, Prof Saad Parvez. said that events of such nature help the students to counter with the current entrepreneurship challenges and also expose them to current entrepreneur environment.
