JAMMU, Mar 16: A meeting of National Innovation clubs of various Central Universities, IITs IISER and NITs was held at Rashtrapati Bhavan. This was part of the ongoing Festival of Innovations (March 12-19, 2016). The Central University of Jammu got selected along with three IIT (IIT-Kanpur, IIT-Delhi, IIT-Chennai) One NIT-Trichy and One Central University (Jamia Milia Islamia) to share the experience of innovation club. Nearly 100 participants participated in the National Innovation Club meeting.
Dr. Pankaj Mehta from Department of Environmental Sciences, represented Central University of Jammu at meeting of National Innovation Clubs held at Rashtrapati Bhavan where he shared some of the initiatives taken by the Council in searching the grass root innovations, spreading the innovation and mapping the unmet needs of the society. He also briefed about the functioning of the year old council which is established in Central University of Jammu for providing guidance, technical support, financial support and IP support to the innovators and incubatees.
Speaking on the occasion, Secretary to the President, Omita Paul appreciated the efforts taken by the IIEC of Central University of Jammu. She said that the endeavour to set up Innovation Clubs was in order that they will help not only to bring out the needs of the local areas but the solutions to those problems as well.
Prof. Ashutosh Sharma, Secretary DST, Prof. Anil K Gupta, Executive Vice Chairman NIF, H K Mittal Head National Science & Technology Entrepreneurship Development Board (NSTEDB) also addressed the gathering and shared their experiences.
