Srinagar, Sept 19 The students of Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST), Awantipora today demanded that their examination must be conducted online and relaxation be given to them in the syllabus as the University is yet to decide over the mode of conduct of examination this year.
The students said that their date sheets have been issued by the University and that the exams are scheduled from Monday. However, the University said that the date sheets have only been issued for backlog candidates.
“All the Universities are conducting examinations online but this University is going conduct exams offline,” students of the University told Excelsior.
He even said that they have completed only 50 per cent of syllabubs and on top of it, the University administration is adamant on conducting examination offline amid COVID-19 pandemic.
“We have had classes online, but we have managed to complete half of the syllabubs, rest is pending; while this is the situation, the administration has issued the date sheet for the examinations,” he said.
The students said that they demand more time for the conduct of examinations and relaxation in the syllabus, which they said, they deserve as they were not able to attend classes due to COVID-19 pandemic.
University administration, however, told Excelsior that they have not decided anything on the conduct of examinations and that it is being deliberated upon.
“We have not decided anything regarding the conduct of examination as yet, we are deliberating upon it as the safety of the students is paramount to us,” In-charge Controller Examination, IUST Dr Muhammad Amin Bhat told Excelsior.
Regarding the date sheets, the University PRO told Excelsior that the date sheets have been issued only for the backlog candidates.
“They had attended the classes and they are few in number, so their examination will be held offline as there would be no difficulty in adhering to the SOPs in their case,” he said.
