Struggling RCB to face KXIP in a must win IPL clash

MOHALI: Going through a disastrous season, Virat Kohli-led Royal Challengers Bangalore will look to look to put their IPL campaign back on track as they face Kings XI Punjab in their next match of the ongoing IPL season at Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium on Saturday.
RCB have lost six matches on trot and are currently placed at the bottom of the table. RCB now need to win every matches to keep their chances alive in the ongoing cash rich league.
On the other hand , KXIP have gone through a roller coaster campaign so far. KXIP lost their last game against MI in a nail-biting encounter courtesy Pollard’s brilliant hitting.
They are currently at the fourth spot in the IPL points table after winning four matches and losing three.
For RCB, both batting and bowling department have been inconsistent and has led them down in this season of the tournament so far.
Batting collapse is the biggest worrying factor for RCB and even captain Kohli’s form hasn’t been up to the mark as compared to his international performance.
RCB’s bowling department has been not so impressive and they need to work hard on it. Yuzvendra Chahal has been their top bowler with nine wickets but rest of the bowling line-up conceded far too many runs.
All the other RCB bowlers have also failed to take wickets at crucial points of the matches.
On the other hand , KXIP are largely dependent on their explosive openers K L Rahul and Chris Gayle at the start of the season. As the season progressed, the likes of Mayank Agrawal, Sam Curran and Sarfaraz Khan also started performing well and contributed in teams’ win whenever they got the opportunity to bat.
KL Rahul’s return in form has given the biggest relief to the the KXIP as he got his maiden IPL ton in the last match.
In bowling, KXIP skipper Ravichandran Ashwin has done well by leading the team from front. He has got good support from the likes of Sam Curran, Mohammed Shami and Murugan Ashwin.
In head to head contest, KXIP and RCB have played 22 matches so far in the history of the IPL tournament.
KXIP have won 12 of those games, while RCB has managed to win the remaining 10 matches. When these two teams met each other last season, RCB won both.
