JAMMU, Aug 1: Apni Party, Provincial president for Jammu, Manjit Singh today said that their struggle for restoration of Statehood will continue.
Speaking at a meeting of active party leaders and workers in Samba, Manjit Singh said that the Apni Party’s stand is being followed by the other mainstream political parties in Jammu and Kashmir even as they opposed the same in the past.
“They have misled the people with their hollow slogans. The promises which could not be fulfilled were made with the people by these political parties who opposed Apni Party’s policies initially and now they have adopted the same approach knowing that people will not support them anymore,” Singh said.
He said that Apni Party has a clear stand on many issues and it was due to the efforts of the Party’s president Syed Mohammed Altaf Bukhari that the employment and land was kept exclusively right of domicile holders.
Singh said that the Apni Party will not compromise on the public issues and the struggle of the party will continue until the Statehood is restored to Jammu and Kashmir.
“There is disappointment among the people after the historic erstwhile State was downgraded into a Union Territory. J&K deserves to be given back its Statehood and an elected Govt,” said Manjit Singh and took on the bureaucratic attitude in the administration which has become a main cause of suffering for the common masses.
The people often ignore going to the Govt offices because of the ignorance and delaying attitude adopted by the officials in villages and towns especially in absence of their accountability, he added.
He further said that if the elections are held in J&K, an elected Govt. will be able to restore the lost faith of the people in the policies and programmes of the Govt.
Meanwhile, he directed party leaders and workers to intensify membership drive and identify public issues for their redressal.
