Strict vigil in Delhi following terror threat

NEW DELHI: The National Capital Region (NCR), including Delhi, has been put on alert after an intelligence agencies’ input with regard to the possibility of a terror attack in the city this week emerged.
According to a tip-off, a group of terrorists from Jammu and Kashmir might have headed towards Delhi for carrying out the attacks in the capital or the surrounding areas.
Security has been strengthened in and around markets and transport hubs here on Monday in respect of any suspicious activities of people, sources said.
Vigil has also been stepped up near important installations, at railway stations and bus stands in the city.
There has been a spurt in terrorist activities in Jammu and Kashmir recently amid the ongoing ‘Unlock-1’.
Informatively, three Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists were shot dead in a security operation in Zadibal area of Srinagar on Sunday after repeated efforts to make them surrender failed.
In a separate incident in Kulgam, two Jaish-e-Mohammad ultras, who had taken shelter in a house in an orchard during an encounter on Saturday managed to flee.
On Saturday, forefending a major Pakistan sponsored terror bid, BSF personnel shot down a “highly sophisticated” drone, carrying arms and ammunition, close to the International Border in the Hiranagar sector of J&K’s Kathua district.
This was the first time a drone carrying arms and explosives was gunned down by the force in the Jammu region.
