Sir,
It is heartening to read that the State Government has ordered the appointment of the Chairman and eight members of the Public Service Commission.State Subordinate Services Recruitment Board(SSRB) has already been strengthened by providing it requisite manpower. With the announcement of the much awaited New Recruitment Policy titled’Fasttrack Recruitment in Government Departments’ some time ago,it is imperative that the Recruitment Agencies of the State such as PSC and SSRB are strengthened to accomplish the Herculean task of fast track recruitment of both gazetted and nongazetted employees under the new recruitment policy.
According to the new policy, all the posts already referred to the Recruitment agencies such as PSC/SSRB are to be filled in three months and under the fast track recruitment, the process to fill the existing vacancies will be completed in four months. At present, most of the schools in hilly and mountainous areas are functioning sans adequate teaching and nonteaching staff thus affecting the studies of the students.Similar is the case with colleges and hospitals which are facing huge shortage of staff. Only the other day, this newspaper reported that1368 posts of Medical Officers are lying vacant in the Medical Department in Jammu and Kashmir divisions. One can imagine the state of delivery of health services in the health institutions where these vacancies of MOs are existing. The other departments too must have been facing shortage of manpower affecting their proper functioning.
With the launch of the new Recruitment policy and strengthening of the PSC and SSRB,it is hoped that the Government will keep its commitment and take measures to expedite the process of recruitment of Gazetted /Non- Gazetted posts.
Yours etc….
