Stop injustice to Shaurya Chakra awardee: Sena

JAMMU, June 16: Stop injustice to Irfan who was awarded gallantry medal Shaurya Chakra, Shiv Sena state chief Manish Sahni and Col SS Pathania, president Sainik Samaj Party said here today.
In a joint press statement issued here both the leaders expressed their grave concern and anguish over the eviction notice to served to Shaurya Chakra awardee.  He said that 19-year-old Irfan Ramzan Sheikh, a resident of Shopian Nagbal, whose father was killed in a terrorist attack in 2017, received the third highest peace time gallantry award in 2019 after displaying an incomparable act of bravery in tender.  At the age of 14, he caught and killed a terrorist.
In recognition of his bravery and patriotism, Irfan was also promised free education and was admitted to Sainik School, Manasbal.
Apart from giving eviction notice to the present LG administration of J&K, he has also been asked to deposit last year’s school fees (Rs 1.2 lakh), which is definitely a shameful and condemnable decision.
He said that the gallantry award winners are the pride of the nation and they should be given due respect, appreciation and gratitude.
Sahni and Col Pathania have urged the Lt Governor to immediately stop these proceedings by the administration, cancel the order and give a suitable government job to Irfan.
