JAMMU, Sept 8: Director Social Welfare Jammu Dr Bharat Bhushan today claimed that department has taken a number of steps aimed at identifying and deleting the ineligible pensioners registered under Integrated Social Security Scheme and National Social Assistance Programme.
In an official handout, the Director said that all the beneficiaries availing the benefits under the social security schemes are being linked with Aadhar numbers and this step will help in finding bogus and duplicate beneficiaries.
“The live certificates of the pensioners are being demanded so that the dead beneficiaries are deleted from the rolls of the pensionary schemes”, he said, adding “the process of Electronic Benefit Transfer has also been initiated for the payment of pension and this will rule out the duplicacy”.
About the verification conducted by Deputy Commissioner Doda, the Director said, “the District Social Welfare Officer has been directed to take immediate steps to weed out the ineligible pensioners and submit the detailed report within three weeks”, adding “the department appreciates the initiative taken by Deputy Commissioner Doda for weeding out ineligible pensioners”.
He sought similar response from all the District Development Commissioners of the province given the fact that the department is facing acute shortage of staff in almost all the districts and it is not possible for the department to carry out extensive exercise of identification of ineligible pensioners.
