Samba: Emphasizing significance of improved power scenario to foster industrial growth, Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh today reiterated that government is relentless in its efforts to supply ‘power to all’ by 2019 by augmenting power distribution and transmission networks.
The Deputy Chief Minister was speaking at a function organized by Bari Brahmana Industrial Association (BBIA) which was also attended by Industries and Commerce Minister, Chander Parkash Ganga.
MLC, Vikram Randhawa, Director Industries, Handicrafts, MD SIDCO, senior officers from concerned departments and members from different industrial associations were also present on the occasion.
Dr Singh further said that most of the industrial estates are getting 24X7 power supply and directed Chief Engineer, PDD to ensure that there are no unscheduled power cuts in industrial areas. He also informed that funds have been earmarked under Prime Minister Development Programme for dedicated power supply to Industrial estates from the Power Grid.
The Industries and Commerce Minister in his address said that the positive industrial growth with development of entrepreneurial skills of unemployed youth through industry friendly policies can help in tackling the problem of unemployment. He urged upon Industries representatives to pay focused attention on their Corporate Social Responsibilities to strengthen government initiatives.
Earlier, BBIA President Lalit Mahajan thanked the Ministers for resolving issues of reduction in electricity duty from 22% to 10 %, 24X7 power supply to industrial sector and establishment of new industrial estates. The BBIA members raised issues of extension of incentives and income tax holidays for the existing and new units, adoption of Ease of Doing concept and one time amnesty schemes for industrial units to clear the power dues without any surcharge and penalties.
