JAMMU, Aug 18: Minister for Housing, Horticulture and Culture, Youth Services and Sports Raman Bhalla today said that the State has witnessed unprecedented development during last five and a half year initiated by the present Government under a comprehensive plan.
The Minister was addressing a gathering after laying foundation stone   of Block Development Office complex, Satwari at Rakh Gadigarh to be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs. 30 lakh.
The Minister informed that Rs.15 crore is utilized under  MNREGA in the area during the year 2013-14 and a number of development works have been completed to facilitate the people. He said that with the completion of Block Development office complex in Gadigarh, as many as 15 Panchayats would get benefit and avail the service of different kinds at their doorsteps.
The Minister also highlighted  various development projects being executed in Gandhi Nagar Constituency like expansion of airport, construction of flyover, construction of artificial lake and others.  He said that the government was keen for    early completion of all  these projects.
He said various works like lanes and drains; construction of link roads has already been completed in Gadigarh.
He assured the people of Gadigarh that a comprehensive development programme has been started in the area to upgrade  the basic   amenities.
Earlier, the Minister laid foundation stone for construction of park/strip, near Gurudwara Guru Arjun Dev Singh Ji Nagar Raipur Satwari to be developed by Department of Floriculture.
While interacting with the inhabitants of Raipur Satwari, Mr. Bhalla said that the park involving a cost of Rs. 90 lakh would be developed on modern lines with facilities like walkways, provision for illumination, landscaping, benches, etc. He asked the executing agency to complete the work at the earliest.
The Minister said that the Government was committed to maintain clean and healthy environment in urban parts of the State, adding that a comprehensive  plan has been prepared to develop all the parks on modern line.
He directed the concerned agencies to conduct regular inspection of the execution works at the park to keep a check on quality of material being used.
He also visited Govt Girls High School Satwari Raipur and inspected PHE Water Supply Scheme. He instructed the PHE Department to start necessary renovation work on the scheme to augment the supply in the area.
