JAMMU, Jan 1: Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation Raman Bhalla today said that the Government was committed to make available all basic amenities in every corner of the State and liberal funding is being provided to the departments to meet the development related demands of the people.
The Minister was interacting with the people at a Public Grievances Redressal Camp held at Upper Gaddigarh, here today.
Mr. Bhalla said that the Coalition Government was working under a comprehensive plan to develop modern line infrastructure facilities across the State. He said that there was no constraint of funds under development sectors like R&B, PHE, ERA, PDD, Health, Education and other sectors.
The Minister said that unprecedented development has been witnessed across the State during four year tenure of the present Government, adding that many new projects were in pipeline to upgrade the living standard of the people.
Mr. Bhalla said that instructions have been issued to concerned departments to complete all the new projects being executed in their jurisdictions and make optimum use of funds. He urged the people to personally monitor the development works being executed in their respective areas.
The Minister assured the inhabitants that their remaining genuine developmental demands would also be fulfilled on priority basis.
Listing new projects sanctioned for his home constituency Gandhi Nagar, Mr. Bhalla said that Health Ministry has approved Rs. 71 crore for construction of 6-storey Maternity hospital within Gandhi Nagar hospital premises. He said that the hospital would be constructed with all facilities at par with SMGS hospital.
He said to ease rush in the city and Gandhi Nagar hospitals the Government has also approved Rs. 4.77 crore for construction of Primary Health Centre at Bhore Camp and Lower Gaddigarh, besides NS Urban Health Centre at Trikuta Nagar.
Later, several deputations of refugees of 1947, 1965 and 1971 met the Minister and projected their problems.
The Minister gave a patient hearing and said that Central and State Governments were fully aware of the hardships faced by the refugees and were keen to resolve all their issues in one go. He said that for this purpose, a delegation of the J&K Ministers met Prime Minister, UPA Chairperson and Home Minister and submitted a proposal demanding Rs. 1775 crore for one time settlement of the refugees.
Mr. Bhalla said the Central Government, headed by Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, has already released Rs. 49 crore for distribution of land deficiency compensation among the refugees, adding that the relief amounting to Rs. 1.50 lakh to each family has been distributed by arranging public grievances camp across the State.
Mr. Bhalla called upon the left out families to approach the Revenue officers and fulfill required formalities to avail the relief.
The Minister informed that most of the refugee Colonies were being regularized under 254-C Revenue Act, adding that these areas would be developed on modern lines by providing all basic amenities at par with urban pockets.
