Replying to the question of CPM MLA, Mohd Yousaf Tarigami in the Lower House, the Minister informed the House that Rs 5.46 crore were released by the Centre in lump-sum under SCA to TSP and Article 275 (I) against the action plans of 2009-10. “These funds are being expended on various developmental works in tribal areas through district executing agencies and funds for the purpose remain at the disposal of concerned District Development Commissioners”, she said, adding “State Government has been submitting action plans for Central funding in time and is also perusing for timely release of fund with the Centre but sometimes these are released at the end of the financial year”.

Earlier, raising the question, Tarigami demanded timely release of funds under TSP to facilitate timely completion of development works in tribal areas and also given the limited working season in these areas. He also demanded refocusing the needs of the tribal people in view of the fact that they are not adequately covered under various schemes and programmes in vogue.
