JAMMU, Jan 30: The Government today re-constituted J&K State Medicinal Plants Board under the chairmanship of Advisor (K) to the Governor, In-charge Health and Medical Education department.
While Administrative Secretary, Health and Medical Education Department will be the vice chairman, the Chief Executive Officer, J&K State Medicinal Plants Board will be the Member secretary of the SMPB. The other members of the Board are: Vice Chancellor SKUAST Jammu/ Kashmir, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests J&K, Director IIIM J&K, Director Indian System of Medicines J&K, Director Agriculture Jammu/ Kashmir, Director Horticulture Jammu/ Kashmir, Director Floriculture, Gardens & Parks J&K; Director State Forest Research Institute, Director Entrepreneur Development Institute J&K, Controller Drug & Food Control Organisation J&K and Head of Department of Botany, University of Jammu/ Kashmir.
The Board shall look after policy formulation, coordination with other Departments, ensure sustained availability of medicinal plants, coordinate on all matters relating to the development and sustainable use of medicinal plants besides checking erosion and degradation of resources and marketing and to assess the potential of medicinal plants which grow naturally in J&K state and also make the investments on the renting out of the spaces and office equipment within the budget. The Board shall meet twice a year.
