JAMMU, Sept 22: State Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has criticized the lackadaisical and non performing approach of State Coalition Government in dealing with situation arising out of recent floods.
Addressing media persons, Party State spokespersons Sunil Sethi (Senior Adv.) and Balbir Ram Rattan took the Government to task for having surrendered to the situation and circumstances and leaving everything to the improvement of weather and rescue and relief efforts of Army and public spirited persons. They commended role of Army and Central Government in timely and untiring efforts to help victims when State Government has failed on all fronts. They said when the population across the State is suffering immensely the State Government is not doing enough to mitigate the sufferings of the victims, and help them in rehabilitation.
Sunil Sethi further highlighted that untiring efforts are being made by State BJP in helping victims throughout the State and in this regards rescue and rehabilitation teams are working and performing to the satisfaction and expectations of the people. More than 40 trucks of relief material have been supplied to the affected areas in Jammu province and similar efforts are on in Kashmir province too. Because of the efforts of BJP, lot of aid and relief is being received from throughout the country by Party and is being distributed among affected families. Teams of BJP are working with dedication and commitment for the benefits of the victims, he added.
Sunil Sethi called upon all to join the BJP in its efforts to help the victims. He disclosed that the BJP State president & MP Jugal Kishore Sharma has also constituted a Central Committee of senior leaders to effectively control all efforts. He further said that compensation being given by State Government is grossly inadequate and insufficient for the losses suffered by victims and the present slab of compensation is too less to help victims.
He further demanded that alternative Government lands should be allotted to village Seri victims in Reasi for their rehabilitation and also to other areas where people have lost houses and fields, which had come under landslides and are not inhabitable now.
