RAJOURI, July 22: Former legislator and coordinator, AICC Vichar Vibhag, Ashok Sharma stressed upon the authorities to start work on Rattle and other power projects, besides reopening coal mines and power house of Kalakote to create thousands of employment opportunities and self sufficiency in power.
He was addressing one day convention of Indian Youth Congress organized by Block Youth Congress Committee, Kalakote, here today. Sharma said that more than 50,000 youth will be absorbed by commencing work and commissioning of power projects like Rattle, Keru, Qwar, Karthai, Thandapani, Chingus and Parnai, recommissioning of thermal power house and opening of 13 coal mines of Kalakote that have been kept unattended.
“Economic potential and employment avenues of Jammu Region have been ignored for years together causing unrest among the youth which needs serious consideration by the Government and the people as well to improve quality of life of people and remove trust deficit among the youth”, added Sharma.
While welcoming the appointment of most capable and veteran chancellors for the Centre Universities of J&K by Governor NN Vohra, Sharma demanded the establishment of technical institutions of higher learning under both the universities in uncovered remote and hilly area of the State to provide professional expertise to the youth of rural and far flung area at the door step.
The former legislator also expressed serious concern over making complicated the process of admission in technical institutions outside the State under Prime Minister Scholarship Scheme and urged upon the Union Government to make the process simple and affordable to the youth.
The convention was presided over by Arjun whereas Sushil Jamwal, coordinator, PCC Vichar Vibhag, was the chief guest.
Prominent among those who spoke on the occasion include Som Raj Khajuria, Ram Lal, Kashmir Singh, Hans Raj, Chain Singh and Sarpanches of the area.
