JAMMU, Aug 17: St Mary’s Garrison Church, Gandhi Nagar in association with Gandhi Global Family organized an Inter-Religious Peace Conference cum prayer service at Church Conference Hall, Gandhi Nagar, here today.
On the occasion, Rev Fr Varkey T J of Garrison Church who presided over the conference, reminded the gathering present on the occasion that the entire humanity is God’s Sons and Daughters and as such they have the obligation to live like brothers and sisters giving mutual respect and honoring the dignity of every human being.
Speaking on the occasion Rev Fr Kuriakose, priest incharge of the Garrison Church appealed for peace and mutual acceptance among all sections of the society.
S P Verma, president Gandhi Global Family echoed the same voice saying that imbibing Gandhian values of ahinsa is the need of the hour to restore mutually norshing coexistence between people of various persuasions and ethno-linguistic backgrounds.
Sr Rosema, Principal Convent School, while speaking emphasized that whenever such type of situation arises every person should pray to almighty God for the early restoration of peace and special prayers should also be done in all religious places.
The dignitaries from the civil societies and religious heads attended the peace conference including representatives from all the major religious faiths including Hindu, Muslim, Sikh and Christianity.
