JAMMU, June 16: Sainik Samaj Party (SSP) has urged the Lt Governor and Union Government to take urgent suitable measures to ensure security of nationalist people staying in Valley.
“Barbaric killing of Sarpanch Ajay Pandita has raised numerous questions on the efficacy of security cover and vulnerability of people, supporting the cause of integration of J&K UT with the Union Government,” said Col SS Pathania, president, Sainik Samaj Party.
He said that only 2 percent of the people in valley are actively supporting militancy, OGWs and sleeper cells, and their number goes approximately to one lakh and sixty thousand. Monitoring the movements of such large number of people, certainly is a herculean task, he said, adding, three prong strategy is the need of hour, in which active militants including Infiltrators, OGWs and sleeper cells are simultaneously engaged on short, medium and long term horizons fully integrating all intelligence agencies and local people.
At the same time, SSP president said, issue of providing security cover to nationalists people living in valley needs to be addressed on priority, to ensure complete integration of J&K UT with Union of lndia in an uninterrupted and smooth manner.
“Providing security cover to each individual or giving them training and weapons for self protection may not be pragmatic and certainly is fraught with danger of loosing man and weapon both. Instead, it would be worth while to make small secure colonies at various places, emulating Israel model with proper fencing, observation devices and trained armed people with suitable weapons and desired wherewithal,” he asserted.
Pathania said that these arrangements will not only dissuade militants but will also instill the sense of security in the nationalist people including the displaced Kashmiri Pandits, who are keen to fall back to their routes.
