JAMMU, May 9: Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jammu today directed officers to intensify action against criminals, drug peddlers and anti-social elements while chairing a high-level crime review meeting at District Police Lines (DPL) Jammu.
The meeting was attended by all Zonal SPs, SDPOs, SHOs and Incharges of Police Posts of Jammu district.
A detailed review of the overall law and order situation, crime graph, investigation of important cases and disposal of pending matters was conducted during the meeting.
The SSP stressed the need for professional and people-friendly policing and asked officers to ensure timely investigation and prompt disposal of cases to provide speedy justice to the public.
He directed supervisory officers to closely monitor investigations and maintain strict accountability at all levels.
During the meeting, special focus was laid on checking drug trafficking, organized crime, property offences and other criminal activities.
Officers were instructed to strengthen intelligence gathering, keep strict surveillance on habitual offenders and take firm action against elements involved in unlawful activities.
The SSP also reviewed the functioning and performance of police stations across the district and emphasized better coordination among different police units for effective crime control and maintenance of law and order.
Directions were issued to increase patrolling and ensure visible policing in vulnerable and sensitive areas.
Stressing the importance of preventive policing, the SSP asked officers to remain connected with the public and enhance community interaction to build confidence among citizens. He said transparency, professionalism and accountability should remain the guiding principles of policing.
The officers were further directed to remain operationally prepared and adopt a proactive approach to tackle emerging challenges and maintain peace and public order in Jammu district.
