REASI, Dec 23: A Tour Operators meet was organized by the Shri Shiv Khori Shrine Board (SSKSB) to encourage pilgrimage at the holy cave of Lord Shiva at Shiv Khori and other adjoining tourists spots in the district.
The meeting, attended by large number of Tourist operators, Hoteliers, Restaurant owners and others related to Tourism industry, was chaired by Ravinder Kumar, Deputy Commissioner Reasi, who is also Vice Chairman of Shri Shiv Khori Shrine Board.
He stressed upon all the concerned for providing better facilities to the tourists, so that a good message is spread across the country and even abroad and more and more tourists/pilgrims are attracted towards these spots, which have already good potential in the district. He agreed to provide every possible help from the district administration, SSKSB and other allied departments like Information, Tourism, PDD etc.
At the outset of the meeting, Mahesh Sharma, Executive Officer SSKSB, presented a brief note about Shivkhori, yatra figure (i.e 13.46 lacs upto 17-12-2016) and other adjoining tourists spots of the district.
Others who were present in the meeting, included; Sardari Lal Dubey, SSKSB Board member; Executive Engineer, PDD, Reasi; ARTO Reasi, Tehsildar Headquarter Reasi, Manager SSKSB (NT Ransoo), Rakesh Wazir (president Hotel & Restaurant Association Katra), Sham Lal Kesar (chairman Hotel & Restaurant Association Katra), Rajesh Sharma (chairman, TAAOK & other Tour operators) and District Officers.
The problems being faced by the Tour Operators/Travel agents, like road connectivity, transportation of passengers, traffic and other basic facilities at Bus stands, were also highlighted in the meeting. Vice Chairman SSKSB directed to all the concerned departments to ensure that no difficulty is faced by the visiting tourists.
The tourist operators appreciated the role of SSKSB, district administration and other allied departments in organizing such types of meetings, which may further lead to increase in tourist influx in the District, particularly at Shivkhori Shrine, which is rapidly gaining importance.
