JAMMU, Dec 11: In the memory of Late Dr JR Sharma, Founder Saraswati Sangeet Kala Mandir (SSKM), an oldest institution in J&K running on the guidelines of Ravi Sharma, an approved Music Compose and Santoor Player, presented a folk and classical musical evening here.
On the occasion, Former Cabinet Minister Gulchain Singh Charak was the chief guest, while Dr Arvinder Singh Amn, Additional Secretary, J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages was the guest of honour.
The programme started with Ganesh Vandana performed by the students of the institute, followed by folk songs and classical ragas.
Speaking on the occasion, Charak said that SSKM is the oldest music institute and doing a great job. The students of the institute are shinning and making a mark in this field, he added.
Arvinder Singh Amn appreciated the efforts of SSKM to bring to the forth the spirit of classical fold music amongst the youth.
The students, who performed were Saanvi Anand, Bhumika Arya, Krishna, Arushi Tuli, Gulam Nabi, Omeshwar Sharma, Saksham Arya, Faheem Mir, Eklavya Bali, Aman Ali, Neharika, Bhumika, Pranavi, Anita, Dharni, Ankita, Rahul Gupta, Hritik Sharma, Shivam Sharma, Layakay Ali, Manikdeep Kour, Pranavi Khajuria, Saiysha Gupta and Saiba Gupta.
The background music was performed by Sunil Sharma, Rakesh Anand, Darbari Lal, Vikas Naggar, Rohit Kumar and Amit Anand.
The theme of the programme was framed by the Secretary Ravi Sharma.
