Jammu, Dec 11: Model Academy, the prestigious school of MIER, had the honour to host a live painting workshop on its premises.
The workshop was conducted by renowned painter Jammu, K.K. Gandhi who has created a niche for himself in the art of painting.
A self-taught artist, who choose painting after leaving his professional life, has emerged as one of the finest painters in thecountry whose works adore the walls of prominent art galleries in the world. Around 150 students from the College of Education and school participated in the workshop.
Dr. Arun Gupta, Chairman MIER along with Dr.Renu Gupta, Vice-Chairperson, Dr. Adit Gupta, Director MIER, Mrs. Rupa Gupta Joint Director, Principal P.K.Srivastava and heads of various departments were present on the occasion.
P.K.Srivastava welcomed the guest and highlighted Gandhi’s contribution towards giving exposure to the beautiful landscape of Jammu and Kashmir through his painting.
Dr. Arun Gupta emphasized that art soothes everyone and advised the younger generation to paint as colours bring happiness in ones lives.
Blending the blue, black acrylic colours Gandhi brought out on the canvas the Himalayas, the stupasas well as a river. The title of his painting was ‘Save Himalayas, Save Water’. Gandhi presented his painting to the institution.
In his interaction with the students, Gandhi said that moving the brush on the canvas and giving the formation to it bring happiness and contentment. He demonstrated the fine points of conventional painting techniques and urged them to continue aesthetic journey using their creativity and imagination.
A painting competition was also organised during the workshop and all the winners from different groups were honoured with certificates of merit.
Dr. Adit Gupta, Director and Rupa Gupta, Joint Director MIER presented a memento to the artist as a token of appreciation and gratitude. Manju Vali, Convener concluded the programme with a vote of thanks.
