SSA teachers’ chain hunger strike enters 20th day

JAMMU, Sept 18: Indefinite chain hunger strike of Teachers’ Joint Action Committee (TJAC) entered 20th consecutive day at Jammu whereas it entered 16th consecutive day at Srinagar.
Today’s hunger strike at Jammu was organized under the leadership of State president, JKRTTF, Vinod Sharma and State chief coordinator, JKRTTF, Sukhdev Singh Sumbria. A large number of SSA teachers participated in the strike and held a strong sit in protest demonstration against the casual approach of the Government towards SSA teachers and masters, who have been deprived of 7th Pay Commission till date and their salaries have not been delinked.
The teachers who sat today on strike include Balvinder Singh, Vipin Sharma, Sushil Singh, Rajesh Singh, Dhruv Singh, Arun Sharma, Pardeep Singh, Parshant Sharma, Subash Chander, Ajay Kumar, Nawang Sangey, Shokat Ali, Satish Kumar, Manzoor Ahmed, Tanveer Ahmed and Mohd Saleem.
While addressing the gathering, Vinod Sharma accused the Government over its non seriousness towards SSA teachers and masters whose families are living in mental trauma. He said that due to the casual approach of the Government these teachers are unable to provide proper facilities to their families including proper food and clothing to their children and required medicines to their ailing parents.
He appealed the Governor’s administration to intervene in the matter and issue order regarding the implementation of 7th Pay Commission in their favour without any further delay to avoid any more confrontation with the nation builders otherwise they will be forced to further intensify the stir and for any law and order problem the Government would be responsible.
