JAMMU, Apr 4: All Jammu and Kashmir SRTC Workers Union members today called on Managing Director of the Corporation and discussed workers’ burning issues.
The delegation under the chairmanship of Mehrajudin from Srinagar and Didar Singh vice chairman from Jammu had a meeting with the Managing Director of the Corporation at his office at Rail Head, Complex here. The Union raised several burning issues which are becoming cause of unrest among the employees of the Corporation.
Vice chairman of the Union raised the issue of regularisation of the daily rated and consolidate employees as agreed upon in 73rd Board meeting. The MD informed that the spadework over the matter has been completed and formal orders shall be issued soon.
Chaman Lal Raina raised the issue of pending 30% of the DA and stressed that employees and their families were facing a lot of miseries due to meagre wages and sky rocketing prices of essential commodities. The MD agreed to release at least 10% of the DA within a couple of days.
Mehrajuddin and Mohd Ashraf apprised the MD of a numerous bunglings in the release of Welfare Fund in favour of deserving and needy employees as well as dependents of the deceased who passed away while performing duty in the Corporation.
The Managing Director called an immediate meeting to discuss the matter at 5.30 pm on the same day. Threadbare discussions were held where the MD took a decision afresh and immediate implementation of the new Welfare Scheme wherein Rs 50,000 each was released in favour of the deceased employees along with a pension of Rs 6000 per month in favour of the widows for five years. Union extended gratitude the MD for taking this bold initiative.
