JAMMU, May 12: All J&K SRTC Drivers Welfare Association, Jammu, in its meeting held here today under the chairmanship of Didar Singh, elected its office bearers.
Didar Singh was elected as president of the Association, Chajju Ram as senior vice president, Dharmveer Singh, Parshotam Singh, Bodh Raj and Ranjeet Singh as vice presidents, Saroop Singh and Parshotam Singh as general secretaries while Sanjeet Singh and Devinder Kumar were elected as publicity secretaries.
Deep Kumar and Ranjeet Singh were elected as secretaries, Jai Raj and Sukhwant Singh as cashiers, Ranjeet Singh as chief organizer, Mohd Amin and Manjeet Singh as organizers while Suram Singh, Janak Raj, Ashok Kumar, Noor Ahmad, Joginder Sharma, Karanjeet Singh and Darshan Singh were elected as executive members of the association.
During the meeting the participants also discussed the grievances of the driver fraternity of the corporation and the callous attitude of the management towards their problems.
The speakers criticized the management for harassing the drivers time and again on frivolous grounds and without any fault of theirs.
A major area of discontent is that numerous drivers of the corporation working day and night for the interests of the corporation for several years but still waiting their regularization, they said.
They further alleged the management of the corporation, who are supposed to take action against the guilty, always harass the drivers when they go to the management with their complaints regarding workshop, clerical staff, etc.
The meeting observed that management is found lagging on the administrative part, where streamlining is actually required.
