JAMMU, May 10: National Mazdoor Conference (NMC) has appealed the Chief Minister and the Finance Minister to exempt the daily rated workers from producing qualification certificate of middle class while implementing SRO 520.
“There is need for amendment of SRO 520 to the extent of providing relief to the 61000 daily rated workers working in the various departments for last 10 to 20 years”, said Subash Shastri, NMC president, while addressing a press conference here today.
He appealed the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti to take decision in this regard in the State Cabinet meeting which is going to be held in the summer capital of the State in Srinagar tomorrow, so that the obstacles which are coming in implementation of this SRO 520 could be removed.
Shastri said this is being pleaded because they have given their youth by facing hardships in creating and providing infrastructure especially in Public Health Engineering Department, Irrigation & Flood Control Department and Power Development Department etc.
He said that these poor daily rated workers are without salary from 20 to 40 months and are badly starving to manage day to day expenses. Regarding furnishing of record, Shastri suggested that first and last voucher of their master sheets should be made the basis for easing out their process of formalities.
Like State Government employees and pensioners, employees of public sector undertakings in the State should also be given benefit of 7th Pay Commission, the NMC president said and also stressed upon the Government to enhance medical allowance of employees from Rs 300 to Rs 1000 per month.
