JAMMU, Jan 25: Two Inspector Generals of Police (IGPs) and a Dy Inspector General (DIG) from J&K were awarded President’s Police Medal for distinguished services while 21 Police officers and other ranks were honoured with Police Medal for gallantry and meritorious services whereas, ten J&K Prisons personnel received DG’s (Prisons) Medal for meritorious service and exemplary services on the occasion of Republic Day.
Three senior J&K Police Officers who have been honoured with President’s Police Medal for Distinguished services are- Dr B Srinivas, Inspector General of Police, CID (J&K), Prithvi Raj Manhas, IGP J&K Armed Police and Shakeel Ahmed Beig, DIG Jammu-Kathua Range.
Eight J&K Police officers and other ranks who have been honoured with Police Medal for Gallantry (PMG) services are- Tahir Sajjad Bhat, Superintendent of Police (Ist Bar to PMG), Fayaz Ahmed DySP, Pankaj Sharma Sub Inspector, Imtiaz Mohammed Head Constable, Sher Mohammed Head Constable, Showkat Ahmed Head Constable (Ist Bar to PMG), Lateef Ahmed Constable and Mohammed Majnoon follower.
Thirteen J&K Police officers and other ranks who were honoured with Police Medal for Meritorious services are- Director Vigilance/ Pros J&K, Mukhtar Ahmed Shah, SSP J&K Police Telecom Srinagar Naseer Ahmed Zargar, Dewakar Singh, DySP (SDPO) RS Pura, Parshotam Kumar Mengi, DySP J&K Railway Police, Harjeet Singh DySP Police CID SB Jammu, Farooq Ahmed Bhat, DySP DAR, DPL Baramulla, Farooq Ahmed Yatoo Inspector (M) Security HQ, Ghulam Ali Dar Sub Inspector Srinagar, Mohd Ibrahim Wani, Sub Inspector PC Srinagar, Janki Nath Sub Inspector Crime Jammu, Vinod Kumar Raina Head Constable CID HQ J&K, Mohd Yaqoob Rather Head Constable DPL Pulwama and Mohd Mushtaq Bhat Head Constable, Srinagar.
Meanwhile, Director General of Prisons, J&K K Rajendra Kumar has awarded DG Prison’s Medals to the 10 officers and other ranks of the J&K Prisons Department on the eve of Republic Day-2014, in recognition of their meritorious and exemplary services. The DG’s (Prisons) Medal has been awarded this year for the first time to the Prisons Personnel in the history of J&K Prisons Department.
The awardees include, three Prison officers Saroop Chand DySP, Abdul Razak Malla and Abdul Samad Bhat – Assistant Superintendents; three Head Warders –Mohd Afzal Khan, Naresh Kumar Sharma and Kuldip Kumar, SG Warder- Charanjeet Singh, Mohd Khan and Shaheena Akhtar –Warders and Sanjay Kumar, follower.
