Srinagar, July 19: With relaxation in the COVID restriction, Srinagar markets today witnessed a considerable rush of shoppers ahead of Eid-ul-Azha.
The bakery shops witnessed a huge rush of buyers throughout the day while clothing, footwear shops saw buyers in moderate numbers.
The shopkeepers on the other side said that they are witnessing a decrease in the number of customers in comparison to what they usually witnessed on such occasions.
Same appears to be the situation with the roadside vendors who carry out their business by setting up stalls along the road in the city. They also did not appear to be satisfied with the scale of sales.
Even the sacrificial animal sellers at the temporary mandis that have been set up across the Srinagar city termed the sales this year quite low in comparison to the last several years.
In the meantime, the Kashmir Retailers Association (KRA) today hailed Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha for giving relaxation for Eid shopping in the Valley.
KRA President said that the retail sector has been trying hard to cope with the slings and arrows of the Covid19 pandemic, which caused irreparable damage to the business.
