SRINAGAR, Dec 31: In order to ensure free flow of traffic in the city, Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) has erased line of demarcation drawn for parking spaces, besides installing ‘No Parking Signages’ on roadsides.
SMC has also mobilized Anti-Encroachment Wing to ensure footpaths and roads are made free from vendors especially roads leading to SMHS and other hospitals for smooth traffic and pedestrian movement.
The Corporation has urged Srinagar citizens especially shopkeepers, hoteliers and other business community members to cooperate in this endeavour and not park their vehicles on roadsides and footpaths for displaying goods.
“SMC shall have no option but to penalize violators as per the provisions of Municipal Corporation Act and directions of High Court,” a statement of the SMC said.
It further said vehicle owners, hoteliers, shopkeepers are urged to use ‘Stilt Parking’ in their respective commercial establishments and other identified parking facilities including mechanized one at Lal Chowk.
