Srinagar admn releases Rs 3.5 cr to strengthen healthcare

SRINAGAR, Sept 23: Srinagar administration has authorised funding to the tune of around Rs 3.5 crore in favour of hospitals and health centres of the district to facilitate procurement of certain smart equipments and machines aimed at strengthening the healthcare in the health centres of the district.
This was informed in a meeting held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary.
The amount released under the Special Area Development Programme or SADP 2019-20 includes 2 crore rupees released in favour of the Chief Medical Officer Srinagar and around 1.5 crore rupees released in favour of the Principal Government Medical College Srinagar.
The two crore rupees authorised in favour of the Chief Medical Officer Srinagar includes Rs 60 lakh for UPHC Batamaloo, Rs 45 lakh for UPHC SR Gunj, Rs 37 lakh for UPHC Lal Bazar, Rs 33 lakh for UPHC Narwara and Rs 25 lakh for PHC Habakadal.
In addition to different kinds of testing machines and medical equipment, the amount will be used to install – for the first time – a smart apparatus enabling smart registration of patients for their seamless utilisation of healthcare services.
The amount authorised in favour of the the Principal Government Medical College Srinagar on the other hand includes Rs 54 lakh for acquiring three life-support ambulances for Lal Ded Hospital, Rs 52 lakh for procurement of medicine vending machines and sanitary pad dispensers for various health centres of the district, and Rs 25 lakh for procurement of twenty infusion pumps and three high-flow cannulas for GB Pant Hospital.
The meeting was informed that some of these machines and equipments will be made available for the first time at these health centres of the district, adding that the idea is to facilitate hassle-free healthcare in the district.
The DC while speaking on the occasion said the district administration recognises the need to augment the healthcare facilities in the district, adding that the funding under the SADP is a small step in that direction.
Concerned officers including JD Planning Srinagar M Yaseen Lone and CMO Srinagar Dr Talat Jabeen were present in the meeting.
