MUMBAI: Indian star shuttler PV Sindhu and chief national coach Pullela for Indian badminton Gopichand were awarded Sportsperson and Coach of the Year awards respectively by Sports Illustrated magazine here last night.
Sindhu carrying her winning momentum earlier this year bagged Syed Modi International and India Open titles. Pullela Gopichand known for nurturing talents like Sindhu, Saina, Kidambi, Sai Praneeth, HS Prannoy have performed quite well in international tournaments over the last few years.
Former sprint legend Milkha Singh bagged the Living Legend award while the Lifetime Achievement award went to shooter Abhinav Bindra. Team India Test opening batsman KL Rahul was conferred the Gamechanger of the year award, while the junior Indian hockey team was given the Team of the Year award. (AGENCIES)
