UDHAMPUR, Dec 19: A Special Police Officer (SPO) was killed after a vehicle hit him at Venus Chowk here.
As per police sources, a SPO namely Karam Chand, son of Bishan Dass, a resident of Samroli was hit by a Tata Load Carrier when he was performing his night duty at Venus Chowk at around 2:30 am here.
The injured SPO was rushed to District Hospital Udhampur, where doctors declared him as brought dead.
After completing all the legal and medical formalities, the body of the deceased was handed over to family members for last rites.
The driver has been arrested in Ramban area and the vehicle involved in the accident was seized.
Further investigation into the case is going on.
Meanwhile, family members demanded compensation as the deceased is having three little kids and job to the deceased’s wife.
