JAMMU, Mar 2: Sikh Progressive Front (SPF) along with Kashmir Sikh Sangat, J&K Peoples Movement, Sikh Intellectual Forum, Displaced Kashmiri Sikh Conference and Tanker Union of JKUT staged one day peaceful dharna at Hari Singh Memorial Park near main Tawi bridge Jammu to protest against the discriminatory attitude of the Government by not resolving the long pending demands of the Sikh community of JKUT.

Front leader said besides them, various other Sikh community members from Kashmir as well as Jammu also held meetings with the Lt Governor but no action has been taken by the LG Administration in this regard despite repeated requests and reminders sent to Raj Bhawan.
Balvinder Singh, president SPF while addressing the media elaborated the demands of the Community taken up with UT Administration which included inclusion of Sikh member in JKPSC, inclusion of Punjabi in JK UT official language, inclusion of Sikh Youth of Kashmir Valley (non migrant Kashmiri quota) in the circular issued by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) for admission in higher Educational Institutions throughout the country, implementation of National Minority Commission Act in JKUT, implementation of Anand Marriage Act passed by Parliament on June 7, 2012, compensation to be paid to the NOK’s of those killed in 1989 Sikh genocide, at par with other riot victims of the country. installation of the Statue of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur at Kunjwani Chowk, release of balance compensation to PoJK Refugees as recommended by the Standing Parliamentary Committee and remove discrepancies in the delimitation report.
Other prominent persons who spoke on the occasion are- Dalip Singh, Taranjit Singh Tony DDC member R S Pura, Jatinder Singh Vice Chairman Cantonment board, Makhan Singh Retd DSP, Rajinder Singh, Balbir Singh, Babu Singh, Narinder Singh Khalsa and Tanbir Singh Sodi .
Manjit Singh, Rajinder Singh Sudan, Surinder Singh Wazir, other members of SPF while speaking on the occasion said that continues neglect of the Sikh issue by the respective Governments has compelled this community to adopt an agitational path.
