NEW DELHI: In order to clear extra rush of passengers during the forthcoming festive season of Dussehra and Diwali, Northern Railway has decided to run 8 pairs of special trains to various places including Jammu, Katra, Varanasi and Ajmer, among others.
New Delhi-Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra Premium Superfast Special tri-weekly, Varanasi–Delhi tri–weekly holiday special, and Anand Vihar–Udhampur tri-weekly express special train are being pressed into service from September 1, according to a release.
Besides, Delhi–Rohtak–Delhi (unreserved special), Jammu Tawi–Pathankot-Jammu Tawi DEMU (5 days a week), Saharanpur- Ambala-Saharanpur daily MEMU, Old Delhi–Moradabad-Old Delhi daily express, Ludhiana-Chandigarh-Ludhiana daily passenger, Ajmer-Delhi Sarai Rohilla-Ajmer, Bikaner-Haridwar-Bikaner weekly express and Sriganganagar-Jammu Tawi-Sriganganagar weekly express will be launched from next month.
New Delhi-Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra Premium Superfast Special tri-weekly will make 33 trips in each direction from September 1 to November 15 this year. The train will depart from New Delhi station at 9.45 pm every Saturday, Monday and Thursday from September 1 to November 15 to reach Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra at 9 am the next day.
In the return direction the Katra-New Delhi Premium Superfast Special will depart from Katra at 7 pm every Sunday, Tuesday and Friday from September 2 to November 16 to reach New Delhi at 5.35 am the next day.
Comprising of one AC 2 Tier, five AC 3 Tier, nine Sleeper Class coaches, besides two luggage vans, the train will stop at Ambala, Jammu and Udhampur stations. (AGENCIES)
