Special drive launched to avoid road mishaps from Nashri to Banihal

Jammu, July 26:  To avoid road mishaps on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway from Nashri to Banihal, Ramban Police has launched a special drive under the name ‘Respect the Mountains’.
Under the drive, special attention is being given on four specific points, which play crucial role in road mishaps on National Highway in this mountainous area.
While elaborating, Additional SP Ramban, Mushtaq Choudhary told the Excelsior  that nakas have been strengthen  and special instructions issued to check  element of deception through  camouflaged  number plates and  drug addiction.
The Police has identified around 30 hot spots, which are prone to accidents and the efforts are  on in   collaboration with R&B as well as other agencies for repair of the stretches, fluorescent paint and installation of lights at these points to avoid mishaps, he added.
Besides, the Addl SP further said, an awareness campaign has been launched to instill a sense of respect for human beings so that the drivers on their own prefer to ply the vehicles with responsibility.
The special driver has been launched in wake of frequent road accidents on the National Highway from Nashri to Banihal, particularly the recent mishap in which around a dozen Amarnath pilgrims were killed and several others got injured.
