SRINAGAR, Sept 18: In connection with the celebration of Birth Anniversary of Deen Dayal Upadyay and Mahatma Gandhi, the week commencing from September 25 to October 2 would be observed as special Swacch Bharat Abhiyan week.
The decision was taken at a high level meeting chaired by the Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh. The meeting was attended by senior officers of Housing & Urban Development Department and allied departments.
The Deputy Chief Minister said that the week would go a long way in inculcating the sense of having clean and pollution-free environment in the State. He said the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan envisioned by the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi would be instrumental in promoting the hygiene and also the importance of having clean environment and surroundings.
Dr. Singh also appealed the people, students, colleges, NGOs to participate actively in the activities undertaken during the week to make it a success.
